Memorial Day

We spent a few hours of Memorial Day at Quail Creek Res. Later in the day, we went up there, hoping everyone else would have left and be on their way home. We were right! It was so nice to go and not have be crowded on the lake. Kenzie had left for girls' camp so she wasn't with us, but my parents came. We tubed, used the knee board, and Gage attempted wake boarding. (we really missed Keaton and Kenzie because they can wake board and could have given Gage some good tips). He didn't make it up, but maybe next time. As you can see, we made Noah and Maddie ride the tube with Mike. They were bawling. Every year they bawl the first time, but we always make them go. By the time they have ridden around a little they are happy. I just had to catch the "moment". It will be great fun to show they dates one day.

CHAMPIONS!!!

Last night Noah's team, the Red Sox, won the championship in their division. This year he joined the major league and played with older boys, 11-12 year olds. They were an awesome bunch of kids taking our little guy in. Noah played second base and center field throughout the season. Last night in the first inning he assisted with all three "outs", throwing the ball to the shortstop twice to get the "out" at 2nd base, then to the first baseman for the 3rd "out". It was a great start to the game. This season his team had 1 tie, 3 losses, and 14 wins. Great job Red Sox!

SuRpRiSe!!!

After a long day at work on Friday I came home to a surprise! Mike had the overnight bags packed with his things, ready for mine. He had planned a Mother's Day trip to Vegas. I loaded up my things and off we went. We stayed at the Hilton just off the strip. After checking in, we headed out to the strip so we could eat at PF Changs. We ordered way too much food so we were able to bring some home to the kids the next day. They are always happy with leftovers. We didn't spend much time walking amongst the weirdos, but we did get to see the waters at the Billagio, Elvis (a couple of times), the Mad Hatter, and Captain Jack Sparrow (you too can get your picture with him for a small tip:)). The next day we went shopping. That didn't last too long. There are way too many people there and it's way too loud, even in the malls. We had a great time! Thanks Mikey for being so awesome. To add to that, I got breakfast in bed, a book written about me, cookies, Gage gave a talk in church about mothers, Kenzie did laundry & cleaned the house, and Noah participated in a special Mother's Day program on Friday where the whole 4th grade played songs they learned on their recorders and then sang a song while doing sign language. I must be the luckiest mom in the world!

Ironman

Swim 2.4 miles/Bike 112 miles/Run 26.2 miles

St. George sponsored it's first ever Ironman Competition on Saturday! It was a great event that the whole city was looking forward to. Our family joined in the excitement and volunteered. Mike, Noah, Maddie and I worked a morning shift from 7:30-11:00 on the bike route. We were called "pointers" and were in charge of making sure no vehicle traffic entered the route. The anticipation of seeing the competitors was intense. The "timex" car led the first man. He went on to win, gaining the lead in the swim and holding that lead throughout the race. Kenzie and Gage volunteered at mile 25 on the marathon route. They were there from 6pm-11pm. Monday we were able to attend a dinner for the 4200 volunteers. We all had an awesome time helping out and look forward to next years race!
